This record trip around the globe has taken aim of the ID.R 2019 (VW). The ambassador of a new drivetrain technology has traveled from challenge to challenge ever since debuting in 2018 at the "Race to the clouds" on legendary Pikes Peak in Colorado. But until the summit storm in the "Middle Kingdom", there are still two appearances in Europe to cope. In the summer of 2019, the pioneer sets a further record: the lap record for electrically driven vehicles on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife, which is considered to be the world's most difficult racetrack. The current record is 6: 45.90 minutes - that corresponds to an average speed of almost 185 km/h. It was set up by Briton Peter Dumbreck at the wheel of an NIO EP9 in 2017. Can this record be broken?
