1984 only 83 participants competed in the „Franken-Triathlon“ – by now the DATEV Challenge Roth is with 3 400 single starters and 650 relays the world’s biggest long distance triathlon competition.
It’s no wonder that this year for the 35th anniversary the whole world is looking at Roth again. Top athletes like Sebastian Kienle (Germany, winner of the Ironman Hawaii 2014) and James Cunnama from Australia (winner of the Ironman Hamburg 2017), Hawaii second Lucy Charles (Great Britain) and Yvonne van Vlerken (Netherlands) the triple Roth winner with a world record time in 2008 are making the competition exciting. Of course all five want to win the title and the highest long distance prize money in Europe in the amount of 200 000 U.S. Dollars!
