Many professional coaches and players are now engaging in the support of football and social projects abroad. This commitment is also planned to be rewarded in Berlin's Federal Foreign Office.

The particular focus is on the players and the trainers who play or coach overseas. The candidates that matter here are not only those who have convinced with their skills but also those who have shown character and passion on and off the field over the past year. For this year's award, nominated are players such as Lukas Podolski, Toni Kroos, Pauline Bremer and coaches such as Michael Krüger, Horst Kriete and Bernd Storck.
