The world's best Canoe Sprint athletes from 35 countries will have their final chance to be successful in the 2009 World Cup Series. The final ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup commences on Friday 5 June in Szeged, Hungary and concludes on Sunday 7 June.
The course at Szeged has been moved closer to the audience to create better stadium experience and a new starting system with light indicators (red for stay and green for go) are being tested here before being used at the World Championships later this year.
Approximately 15,000 spectators are expected to watch this final World Cup which has the signs to be a great finale for the series.
A number of international teams are using the event as their final selection regatta for the 2009 World Championships later in Canada, which will make this World Cup the most competitive of the season. Athletes will race over the 200m, 500m and 1000m events in Hungary.
